Five offline RPGs worth the storage

Offline RPGs are a special breed. They have to hand you the whole world upfront, save reliably, and survive being paused for a week. The good ones become travel companions.

Turn-based combat tends to work best on phones — it fits stop-start play and doesn't punish you for looking up when someone talks to you. Emberfall Legends is our current favorite for exactly this reason.

Watch the file size and the save system before you commit. An RPG that only autosaves at checkpoints is miserable when your battery dies mid-dungeon. We always test that first.

Don't sleep on the smaller ones, either. Some of the most memorable stories we played this year fit under 500MB. Scale isn't the same as depth.

Our advice: download two — one long campaign and one you can dip into for twenty minutes. That combo covers almost every offline moment you'll hit.
